Agricola Street Brasserie

Located in Halifax’s north-end, the Agricola Street Brasserie is a trendy spot that focuses on seafood and pasta, made from local and sustainable ingredients. You’ll find dishes like beef tartare, lobster fiocchi, and duck breast on the menu. Plus, there’s a great selection of wine and local ales to wet your whistle.

Antojo Tacos + Tequila

Antojo Tacos + Tequila is one of the hottest spots in Halifax. The restaurant found instant success with their tasty Mexican-inspired dishes when they opened in early 2018. In addition to a wide array of tequilas, you’ll also find a variety of tacos (including crispy cauliflower tacos, perfect for vegetarians), enchiladas, empanadas, and even grasshoppers, which are imported from Mexico. My favourite item on the menu is Mexican Street Elotes, which is grilled corn on the cob with crema, queso cotija, chile, and lime.

The Brown Hound Public House

The Brown Hound Public House serves up traditional pub favourites. The small, but well laid out north-end space has the vibe of a traditional English countryside pub. Fill your belly with British style fish and chips, Sheperd’s Pie, or Mac and Cheese and choose from a selection of beer, cider, and wine.  Happy Hour is every day between 4:30 to 6:30.

Stubborn Goat Beer Garden

The Stubborn Goat Beer Garden is open on the Halifax Waterfront during the summer months. It is a great spot to grab a drink or a bite to eat while enjoying a beautiful view of the Halifax Harbour. All of the beverages served at the beer garden are made in Nova Scotia, so it’s the perfect chance to try some local flavour. They also have a small menu that includes items like, mac ‘n’ cheese, tacos, lobster poutine, and fish and chips. The Beer Garden is open daily  from 11:30 a.m. until Midnight.

Sushi Nami is a popular sushi restaurant located in downtown Halifax.

Sushi Nami

Atlantic Canada is known for having amazing fresh fish, which makes it the perfect place to eat sushi! Sushi Nami is a go-to spot for Japanese cuisine. They have four locations in the Halifax area, including one in the downtown core. Nami has all the traditional sushi rolls, plus some fun fusion specials. My friends are all obsessed with the Mini Kamikaze, which is a breaded and deep fried sushi roll, with salmon, tuna, snapper, avocado, cream cheese, and jalapeño, topped with spicy sauce!

Waterfront Warehouse is located along the Halifax waterfront. Their flower-covered patio is the perfect spot to eat a meal and enjoy a sunny, summer day. The Waterfront Warehouse is all about seafood. Their menu is filled with items like crab cakes, bacon-wrapped scallops, haddock, and, of course, Atlantic lobster. Plus, they have an entire section dedicated to oysters.
